La forma de infinitivo expresa una acción cuyo ámbito temporal es indeterminado, con las siguientes particularidades:
A) En oraciones interrogativas con why y why not.
why pay so high a price?, ¿por qué pagar tan alto precio?
why not go to Peter's?, ¿por qué no ir a casa de Peter?
B) En oraciones interrogativas con entonación de sorpresa o menosprecio.
wait for him? of course I will, ¿esperarle? por supuesto que lo haré
greet your brother? it's impossible, ¿saludar a tu hermano? es imposible
C) En expresiones de comparación con rather, better y sooner.
